How it's used
While the full name is 歐元, it is extremely common to drop the 元 and just say 歐 when discussing prices or amounts in casual conversation. This follows the same pattern as using 蚊 for Hong Kong dollars. It is strictly a noun for the currency and cannot be used to describe European people or culture.
