Originating from the world of Cantonese opera, this term refers to the act of performers gathering at the side of the stage. It has evolved to describe the ability to find common ground or establish a rapport with someone. It is almost exclusively used in the negative form, 傾唔埋欄, to describe a lack of chemistry or an inability to reach a consensus.
