Definition
Benefit, advantage, or good; used with verbs meaning to have or not have.

How it's used
Unlike the Mandarin usage where it can function as a verb meaning to benefit someone, in Cantonese it is almost exclusively used as a noun following the verbs 有 or 冇. It specifically refers to health or developmental advantages rather than financial profit. When discussing financial gain or profit, Cantonese speakers prefer using 賺錢 or 利益.
Examples
Is eating so many snacks actually good for your teeth?
This job is very beneficial for your future development.

Common mistake
Learners often try to use it as a verb like in Mandarin, but saying 呢樣嘢益你 is not standard Cantonese for saying something benefits you. Instead, use phrases like 呢樣嘢對你有好處.
