How it's used
Although this character exists in formal dictionaries, it is almost exclusively used in spoken Cantonese as a verb meaning to peek or watch someone surreptitiously. It carries a slightly negative or suspicious connotation, implying that the person being watched is unaware of the observer. It is very common to add the aspect marker 住 to emphasize the continuous nature of the watching.
