How it's used
The character 膚 is almost exclusively used as a bound morpheme within the compound word 皮膚. While it refers to skin in a biological or medical sense, it does not function as a standalone noun in spoken Cantonese. When discussing the surface of the body, native speakers will always use the full term 皮膚 rather than just 膚.
Examples
Her skin is very dry, she needs to apply more moisturizer.
Your skin is so good, how do you usually take care of it?

Common mistake
Do not attempt to use 膚 on its own to describe someone's skin, as it will sound unnatural or like a fragment of a literary phrase. Always use the complete word 皮膚.
