How it's used
Despite the name, these buns contain absolutely no pineapple. The name comes from the golden, crunchy, checkered crust that resembles the skin of a pineapple. It is a staple of Hong Kong tea culture, often served with a thick slab of cold butter inside, known as 菠萝油.
