How it's used
While 追逐 can be used in formal writing to describe abstract pursuits like chasing dreams or goals, in spoken Cantonese it is almost exclusively reserved for physical running or playing. When talking about chasing someone to catch them, speakers prefer the more direct 追. It carries a slightly more descriptive or literary tone than simply saying 跑嚟跑去.
