How it's used
Although 位於 is widely understood, it is a formal term primarily used in written Cantonese, news reports, or official descriptions. In everyday spoken Cantonese, people almost exclusively use 喺 or 喺度 to describe the location of a place or building. Using 位於 in casual conversation can sound overly stiff or like you are reading from a brochure.
Examples

Do you know where that shopping mall is located?

Common mistake
Learners often mistakenly use 位於 as a direct translation for any instance of 'to be' in a location, but it cannot be used for people. You should never say 我位於屋企, as you must use 喺 for people.
