How it's used
Surnames in Cantonese are almost exclusively used with the verb 姓 to identify someone's family name. Unlike some other languages, you rarely use the surname alone as a form of address in casual conversation, as it can sound overly formal or distant. It is much more natural to add a title like 先生 or 小姐 after the surname.
