sai1 keoi1西區西区
Definition
Western District; a historical administrative district on the western side of Hong Kong Island.
How it's used
Locals often use this term to refer to the general western part of Hong Kong Island, even though the administrative district was merged decades ago. It is frequently used in contrast to the Central District or the Eastern District to describe one's general location on the island. When people say they are going to the Western District, they usually mean the area covering Sai Ying Pun, Kennedy Town, and Shek Tong Tsui.

Common mistake
Do not confuse the historical administrative Western District with the current Central and Western District, as the latter covers a much larger area including the Central business hub. Using it to refer to the entire modern district is technically inaccurate.
