Although 輛 is the standard measure word for vehicles, many Cantonese speakers prefer the more generic measure word 個 in casual, everyday speech. Using 輛 sounds slightly more formal or descriptive, often appearing in written reports, news, or when specifically emphasizing the vehicle itself. It is almost exclusively reserved for motorized vehicles like cars, buses, and trucks, rather than bicycles or smaller modes of transport.
